What to Bring to Your First Martial Arts Class at Long Island MMA
Nervous about your first martial arts class? We’ve got you covered. Here at Long Island MMA, we love welcoming new students and making your first class experience simple and stress-free.
One of the most common questions we get is:
“What should I bring to my first martial arts class?”
The good news: you don’t need to bring much! Long Island MMA provides everything you’ll need for training — just bring a few basic essentials and get ready to have fun.
Here’s your quick guide to what to bring (and what not to bring) to your first class.
What to Wear & Bring to Class
You’ll want to be comfortable and able to move freely. Here’s all you need to bring:
- Shorts
- T-shirt
- Bottle of water
- Your ID (for check-in and registration)
That’s it! You don’t need to buy any special gear before your first class — all necessary equipment (gloves, pads, etc.) will be provided for you.
What You Don’t Need to Bring
Many first-time students ask about shoes, locks, and other gear. Here’s what you can leave at home:
- Sneakers — Martial arts classes are done barefoot.
- Lock — No lock is necessary for your belongings.
- Additional equipment — We’ve got you covered with gloves and training gear.
