Gregg DePasquale 

Gregg specializes in teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Submission Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts at Long Island MMA. He is a Stony Brook University graduate. He started grappling in 1993 where he wrestled under 1960 Olympian and Pan American Wrestling gold medalist Louis Giani where he was a Suffolk County finalist. After high school, Gregg started his submission grappling career, training with very high level wrestlers and well known MMA fighters. After competing in and winning multiple Grapplers Quest, NAGA amongst other submission grappling tournaments, Gregg turned his attention to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and ultimately received his Blackbelt in July of 2009. Gregg has traveled to Thailand multiple times to study Muay Thai directly from the source. Coach DePasquale AKA “Depo” is one of the most sought after MMA coaches on the east coast, he has helped train multiple fighters to win at the highest level of the sport including events as the UFC, Strikeforce, and Bellator.

Ryan LaFlare

Ryan specializes in teaching Mixed Martial Arts and is a Professional Mixed Martial Arts Fighter currently competing as a welterweight in the UFC. Ryan was the long time Welterweight Champion for Lou Neglia’s Ring Of Combat (ROC) promotion before being signed to a multi fight contract with the UFC. Known for his extremely well rounded fighting style, with world class grappling skills, over 20 years of wrestling experience, and high level striking skills, Ryan is an expert trainer and coach of all aspects of MMA. Coach LaFlare is a graduate of Farmingdale State College where he played varsity lacrosse and was named a Division III Scholar athlete and became the school’s All-Time leading goal scorer.

Dennis Bermudez

Dennis is a professional MMA fighter, a former nationally ranked NCAA Division 1 wrestler, and a college freestyle all American. Most recently Dennis was a cast member on the UFC reality show The Ultimate Fighter Season 1, and is currently a top ranked featherweight in the UFC. “The Menace” specializes in teaching Boxing, MMA, striking, and wrestling at Long Island MMA.

Chris Wade

Chris Wade holds undefeated records in both amateur Kickboxing and amateur MMA, and is currently a professional MMA fighter, fighting out of Bayshore, New York. Chris entered the world of MMA with a top tier wrestling background, including being a high school New York State Champion, an NCAA Div III All American, and a NJCAA Finalist. Chris is currently fighting in one of the largest and longest running MMA promotions on the east coast, Ring of Combat. Chris specializes in teaching wrestling, kickboxing, and MMA. Wade is also a regular clinician and coach for 631 Elite Wresting Club which is based out of the Long Island MMA Training Center.

Brian Michelino

Brian Michelino is one of the instructors and manger at Long Island MMA Training Center. Brian is a Blackbelt in jiu jitsu under Gregg DePasquale Brian specializes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and No-gi jiu jitsu. Brian also runs the children’s program and is a New York state certified teacher. Brian has been in the corner for a number of UFC fights. Along with Coach Gregg DePasquale, Brian has helped multiple professional and amateur fighters develop their submission grappling skills.

Anthony D’Angelo

Anthony has been training since the age of 16, becoming the first and youngest American to earn an Instructor’s belt under Grand Master Mansor of Kioto Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Since then, Anthony has had the opportunity to work and train with many world champions in different capacities. In 2004, Anthony made his professional debut in Reality Fighting 7 and has earned over 30 World, National and Regional titles in the NAGA and Grapplers Quest competitions. Some of his other professional achievements include:

  • Submission Grappling Champion of the World, NAGA, 2002
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion winning dual titles on the same day, 2002

  • Three-time Copa Atlantica Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion: 2000, 2002, 2003

  • NAGA World Submission Championship Second Place Finalist Men’s Pro Division, 2004Currently, Anthony is a 2nd Degree Black belt under 3x World Champion, Derek Panza. Anthony is a personal trainer, coach, and Kickboxing/MMA instructor, dedicated to developing individualized strategies to assist Amateur and Professional fighters in reaching their goals

Kevin Coyne

Kevin Coyne specializes in Muay Thai, and is the primary instructor for the striking fundamentals class. Kevin has multiple Muay Thai fights under his belt and successfully incorporates his personal experience from the ring into each of his classes.

Robert Labiento

Robert is a Hofstra University graduate, with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology. Rob has been a top trainer at All4Sports & Fitness—a strength, power, and conditioning facility—for four years. He has trained athletes at the junior high, high school, and college level. In addition to organized athletic training, he has also trained and created work out programs for adults participating in recreational sports and those looking to increase their overall fitness level. Rob is an avid practitioner of mixed martial arts for over two years and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Hofstra University. His future plans include acquiring a medical degree in sports medicine and continuing to train athletes ranging from the sports enthusiasts to the professional level.

Ryan Patrovich

Ryan Patrovich is a three-time NCAA Division 1 qualifier from Hofstra University, and currently serves as one of Hofstra’s wrestling coaches. Patrovich is also the head clinician and club coach for the prestigious 631 Elite Wrestling Club that operates out of Long Island MMA Training Center.

Patrovich, a two-time Hofstra team captain, was a four-year letterman for Hofstra, a three-time NCAA qualifier who advanced to the round of 12 twice, he captured the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association title as a senior at 174 pounds. He was also a CAA f Suffolk County and Long Island Wrestler of the Year, the Dellicave Award winner as best athlete in Suffolk County, a NCAA qualifier in 2008 and placed third in the CAA and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships in 2009. Over his Hofstra career, he recorded a 75-38 record including a 20-16 mark in duals and a 9-2 record in the CAA.

In addition to the CAA Championship, Patrovich captured the 174-pound title at the 2009 North Carolina State Open, finished second at the 2008 Missouri Open and placed fifth at both the Cliff Keen-Las Vegas Invitational and the Southern Scuffle in 2009. He also placed sixth at the Southern Scuffle in 2007.

While at Islip High School, Patrovich was a three-time New York State Championship finalist with state titles in 2005 and 2006, and a three-time Suffolk County champion from 2004 through 2006. He was also a High School Senior National finalist, a two-time Junior National finalist, a FILA Junior National finalist and a two-time Cadet All-American.

Brent Appiarius

Brent is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown-Belt as well as an amateur MMA and Muay Thai fighter. He has been training and competing in all aspects of MMA since 2007. His combined amateur fight record stands at 9 wins and 2 losses with 4 wins coming by way of knockout.

Kyle Cerminara

Kyle Cerminara is a professional Mixed Martial Artist.Kyle is a Light Heavyweight fighter training out of Long Island Mixed Martial Arts, Cerminara brings an excellent resume of wrestling accomplishments to the table. He was the University of Buffalo’s first All American as he set a record consisting of one hundred and thirty seven victories. During his time at the University of Buffalo he was also able to accrue two awards for Athlete of the Year. After having coached wrestling for the University of Pennsylvania following his own wrestling career, Cerminara turned his sights toward professional MMA and currently holds an undefeated record of 3-0-0.
