About John

Developed at LIMMA. Now Developing the Next Generation.

John has been part of Long Island MMA since he was around 14 years old. That gives him an unusually deep understanding of the gym's culture, training expectations, and long-term athlete development process.

Over time, he progressed from young student to professional competitor and ultimately into a leadership role as head coach of LIMMA's amateur fight team. His own experience competing in both MMA and kickboxing allows him to teach from situations he has personally encountered rather than from theory alone.

John's background extends beyond combat sports. As a United States Marine and college graduate, he brings structure, accountability, discipline, and professionalism into the way he approaches both his own training and the athletes he coaches.

Leadership Perspective

Discipline means being able to execute correctly when you're tired, uncomfortable, and under pressure—not just when training is easy.

How John Coaches

Fundamentals, Discipline & Conditioning

John's classes reflect his competitive and military background: demanding enough to prepare serious athletes, but structured around intelligent training rather than unnecessary intensity. His focus is on developing skills that continue working when fatigue and pressure increase.

01

Build Reliable Fundamentals

Strong fighters need techniques they can execute consistently. John emphasizes disciplined mechanics and fundamentals before adding greater speed, complexity, and intensity.

02

Train With Purpose

Hard work matters, but effort needs direction. Training is organized around developing technical skill, conditioning, composure, and habits that carry over into real competition.

03

Perform Under Pressure

John's professional fight experience allows him to prepare athletes for the physical and mental demands that appear when technique has to work against a determined opponent.

John's Coaching Focus

Striking, MMA & Competitive Development

John teaches across LIMMA's disciplines with a primary focus on kickboxing and works closely with the amateur fight team, helping athletes connect technical striking with the broader demands of mixed martial arts competition.

01

Kickboxing

Develop technically sound striking, movement, combinations, defensive awareness, conditioning, and the ability to maintain technique as pace and pressure increase.

Preparing Athletes Before They Step Into Competition

LIMMA does not move athletes into competition simply because they want a fight. Developing competitors are evaluated on skill, consistency, work ethic, control, conditioning, and their ability to perform under pressure before they advance.

01

Develop the Skill Set

Athletes first need reliable fundamentals across the areas required for competition and the ability to execute those skills consistently in training.

02

Prove Consistency

Attendance, attitude, conditioning, discipline, durability, and performance under pressure all matter when coaches evaluate whether an athlete is ready to advance.

03

Compete When Ready

The objective is not to get someone into a fight as quickly as possible. It is to send athletes into competition prepared, confident, and capable of representing themselves and the team properly.
