Bag Work at Home

Due to the unfortunate gym closures as part of the State’s response to Covid-19. We have all
been forced to develop to the extend we are able, home work out routines. While not many
things can ever replace the feeling of being at Long Island MMA with our friends training we can
still implement many of the things we would do there in our own homes! For instance, I have
put together a bag routine that I would often follow at the gym and have been using it at home
to stay in shape and keep sharp for when the gym opens again. Regardless of whether you have
a bag at your home this workout can be shadowboxed as well. Each round is 3 minutes long and
looks something like this:

Round 1 – Jab only / Orthodox Stance
Round 2 – Jab only/ Southpaw Stance
Round 3 – Jab and Cross / Orthodox Stance
Round 4 – Jab and Cross / Southpaw Stance
Round 5 – Jab, Cross and Hook / Orthodox Stance
Round 5 – Jab, Cross and Hook / Southpaw Stance
Round 6 – All Punches and Right Round Kicks
Round 7 – All Punches and Left Round Kicks
Rounds 8, 9 and 10 – Freestyle Rounds

This system has been very beneficial for me and not to mention fun. Getting a good hard bag or
shadowboxing session in is a nice taste of the training we all miss. I hope that some of you
choose to try this workout or even make your own!
