With the much anticipated bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor fast approaching the UFC’s top ranked featherweights are all attempting to position themselves for a crack at whomever the champion may be when the smoke clears at UFC 189. Long Island Mixed Martial Arts fighter Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez is no exception to this as he is undoubtedly eager to rise back into possible title contention. While Dennis is coming off of an unfortunate loss to Ricardo Lamas, “The Menace” is focused and ready to take down his next opponent whom will be the tenacious Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens. Stephens has fought the majority of his career as a lightweight, however, he had made his debut at 145 approximately two years ago. Long Island’s Bermudez feels his strongest and is at home in the 145lb division.
Another point to be made is that Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens will also take place at UFC 189, and it is certain that both men will be keeping a close eye on the main event. Now, although the main event may be at featherweight the card possesses a very large welterweight presence. It is for that reason that Bermudez’s teammate and owner of Long Island MMA Ryan LaFlare will be particularly interested. The bout between Gunner Nelson vs. John Hathaway is especially key because Ryan had been slotted to face Gunner at UFC Fight Night in Dublin yet was forced to pull out due to injury. Gunner Nelson may yet be in LaFlare’s future and if the time shall arise Ryan will be ready to achieve victory in his natural savage fashion. While most of the world may be watching UFC 189 for entertainment purposes, those fighting out of Long Island MMA in Farmingdale will be watching with business in mind so that when the time comes to conduct business cashing in their “W” for the win column will come without a hiccup.
