This past Sunday, Jan. 18 UFC Fight Night 59 took place in Boston MA. and it was an energy packed event!
From the razor close co-main event of Benson “Smooth” Henderson vs. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to an action packed series of events surrounding the main event of “Notorious” Connor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver.
The eighteenth was a night of great fights. One of which includes Long Island New York native Chris Wade.
Fighting out of Long Island Mixed Martial Arts, Chris Wade increased his UFC record to an undefeated 2-0-0. His opponent was Zhang Li Peng and according to Wade in his post fight interview Li Peng was no slouch.
While Wade controlled the majority of their three round bout with his superior wrestling and striking skills Li Peng would not fold. Through the duration of the bout Chris Wade was able to complete four take downs including an impressive head and arm throw that seems to be becoming Wade’s signature take down. On top of his successful wrestling Chris was able to land 133 of his 167 total strikes, in comparison to Lipeng’s 47 of 67 total strikes it is apparent that Wade was the more active of the two athletes. Chris Wade is yet another up and coming prospect fighting out of New York State and he is certainly a fighter that we should all keep our eyes on for more exciting and entertaining contests.
