Amateur MMA competition on Long Island has been flourishing in the past few years and with the long awaited legalization of the sport in the state of New York many organizations are setting their sights on the transition to professional shows. One such organization would be the NYFE (New York Fight Exchange) and although their goal is to host professional events, for the time being the amateur circuit is still on fire and full of talent also awaiting their own transition into the professional world. The NYFE is hosting their next amateur event titled “NYFE-11 Urban Warfare” in its usual venue of the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, Queens and will take place on June 25. This card is stacked with exciting match ups and skilled athletes. Especially those whom will be fighting out of the Long Island MMA camp! Once again as has been seen in the past the Long Island MMA team will be filling many spots on the card and will be out in full force to support their teammates.
Fighters that will be representing Long Island MMA at the event will be Craig May at welterweight whom is coming off of a TKO victory at NYFE-10 and plans to keep his momentum going into this next fight, Ryan “Dirty Birdie” Burtis at featherweight whom will be competing for the vacant WKA championship title after winning a hard fought decision victory at NYFE-10. Lastly competing out of Long Island MMA will be Joseph “The Saint” Ninomiya whom will be a newcomer to the featherweight division. He had finished his last opponent at NYFE-8 via triangle arm-bar and after approximately a seven month lay-off he will undoubtedly be looking to reassert his position as a dominant force in the organization and especially in this new division. This event is certainly not one to miss, the Long Island MMA team always comes to win and that bodes for excellent shows and explosive entertainment for fans!
