This past Saturday Long Island MMA’s own Chris Wade has yet again made Long Island New Yorkers proud with his victory over the tough Christos Giagos. Chis had taken the fight on short notice and yet seemed to be in his best form yet, Chris was able to maintain an active pace throughout the fight which undoubtedly played a big role in achieving this victory. As well as showcasing his supreme conditioning throughout the fight he was able to display his improved striking and of course his dominant wrestling capabilities; which were the deciding factor in the bout. Chris was able to successfully complete each of his takedown attempts and control Giagos periodically. All the while, Giagos had made some attempts that were spirited yet unable to bring the seasoned Wade to the canvas.
The striking exchanges taking place were back and forth, however, Chris was able to land a beautiful elbow strike which cut Giagos and seemingly turned the tide of their exchanges. The great thing about Chris Wade is that he is an extremely intelligent individual and each fight he is able to analyze his performance quite well. In the past he has made certain critiques of himself, but after this victory he was quite pleased. He stated ““It was a lot of back and forth. I thought my standup improved. I would say this was my best performance. I think I put it all together a little bit more. I’m still developing. I’m young in this sport. I have a lot of growing to do and a lot of learning to do, but this was a step in the right direction.” And it is absolutely another step in the right direction for this extremely talented athlete. The future is bright for Long Island’s Chris Wade!
